Freeport Arts and Cultural Alliance (FACA) was formed in June 2015 by a group of local artists and arts supporters. The group is committed to assessing the needs and aspirations of the local arts & cultural community and helping it reach its full potential.
A growing number of people are contributing to FACA’s discussions and work. The FACA steering committee includes members of Freeport Players, Freeport Economic Development Corporation (FEDC), Open Stage Coffee House, and Greater Freeport Community Chorus, as well as several local visual and performing artists, both professionals and amateurs. A number of other organizations and individuals have contributed to the discussions as well, including representatives of Freeport Historical Society, FreeportUSA, Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce, Art Guild Of Freeport, MASISTA, Freeport Community Services, Freeport Community Education, and Freeport High School drama department. Still more groups submitted letters of support and pledged to be community partners in the development of a cultural plan for Freeport. These include The Port Teen Center, Pine Tree Academy Band, Coastal Winds Community Band, and Freeport Community Library.
The steering committee keeps reaching out to people engaged in arts and cultural activity in our community. Our aim is to include the full spectrum of artists and cultural groups in everything we do.
