Freeport chorus invites new singers Jan. 14

The Greater Freeport Community Chorus, directed by Virgil Bozeman, will begin rehearsals for its spring concerts Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Freeport Performing Arts Center at Freeport High School, 30 Holbrook St. Registration will run from 6 to 6:30 p.m., with rehearsal to follow. Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the FPAC. The program this semester will focus on music from the movies. Concert dates are May 5 and 6. All singers are welcome, but…

Historical Quilts: Patriots, Protesters, and Petticoats

Stop by the library on Wednesday, January 17th at 6:30pm for a historical quilt lecture. Quilt historian Kathy Kenny will hold an interactive lecture focusing on four different Civil War women who made a difference – an abolitionist, a nurse, a teacher, and a seamstress. You’ll hear how each woman influenced and helped others during this difficult time. Learning about these women while viewing the 25 antique quilts Kathy will have on display will bring the Civil War to life!
