August 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm$10 – $15
The 3 Aces are a new band on the Maine music scene. By new, the combo may be new to the scene, but this power trio is comprised of three of the states most seasoned Blues/Roots/R&B/Soul musicians in the State. All three musicians excel vocally and instrumentally as well. A unique aspect of the 3 Aces is the 3-part harmonies they bring to the eclectic song list. They show love, appreciation and understanding of the genre.
Bassist/Vocalist Rob Babson has been a mainstay in the Maine music scene since the late 1980s. He also plays guitar, harmonica, sings, writes songs, and is bandleader of the long-running Delta Knights Band. Rob is a highly sought-after sideman, able to perform in many different musical styles. Rob is currently recording his debut solo album featuring all-original material, which he hopes to release this summer.
Drummer/Vocalist Jeff Davison is the real deal. He has played with a who’s who of blues icons: Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, and Bo Diddley, to name but a few. Jeff is also a recording artist, with The Renovators, T.J. Wheeler, Jimmy & The Soul Cats, and folk hero Creighton Lindsay. Locally, Jeff has played and sang with The Blues Prophets, Blues Over Easy/The Upsetters, The Red Light Revue, Big Chief, and Pat Colwell’s Soul Sensations.
You could call Guitarist/Vocalist JC (Jeff Christiansen) a cult classic. He may be the best Maine musician you haven’t yet heard. JC has rooted around the local music scene for many years, and has been a purveyor of Maine Humor (the Wicked Good Band.) JC attended the Betty Fiord Clinique and he now devotes his time wringing every note out of blues, R&B and roots music. JC is always in support of a good song and his vocals are influenced by his love of the great soulful singers. Every song has a story to tell. The 3 ACES pay homage to the group vocals of blues, R&B, soul, and roots music.
Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
