ACAF Summer Concert Series: Low Lily workshop and concert
September 5 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm$10 – $15
ACAF’s new summer concert series at Meetinghouse Arts concludes with a special event featuring internationally-acclaimed folk-Americana band Low Lily. We kick it off at noon with an interactive songwriting workshop conducted by Low Lily, during which they will share insights from their 20-year career as touring performing artists and provide professional feedback for our musical community. Following the workshop, local band the All-Brights will play a set of funky old tunes, country-folk-Americana, and heartfelt originals. Delta Knights, who have been a Maine favorite for 25 years, will follow, bringing the best of R&B, blues, classic rock, and swing. The event culminates with a performance by Low Lily.
Winners of Best Bluegrass Song and Vox Pop Fan Favorite at the Independent Music Awards 2019, Low Lily’s signature sound, which features world-class instrumentals and a meticulous vocal blend, has made them a fan favorite. They have performed around North America and in the UK and have had two #1 songs on international folk radio. Individually, bandmates Liz Simmons, Flynn Cohen, and Lissa Schneckenburger (who was raised in rural Maine) have performed with Cathie Ryan, Solas, Livingston Taylor, and Tom Chapin, among others. But don’t take our word for it. Click “Listen to Low Lily” to hear their gorgeous music for yourself!
“[Low Lily has] an incredible knack for putting a little pop twist on a traditional folk/Americana sound… it’s a blend that works beautifully.” – PopMatters

12pm songwriting workshop with Low Lily
1pm music from The All Brights
2:30 music from The Delta Knights
4pm music from Low Lily
The All-Brights, also known as Affinis (‘related’, ‘akin to’, ‘neighboring’) are Meg and John Albright. They have been making music together, albeit informally, with voices, fiddle, guitar, and banjo for as many years as they’ve been together, which would be about 37. They recently were members of the foursome Crabapple Jam and have made occasional cameo appearances at private gatherings, mini-fests at Wolfe’s Neck Center, and informal events. They are known for their fine vocal harmonies, simple, timeless original tunes, and covers in the folk tradition.
The Delta Knights, based in Portland, Maine, has specialized in the best of R&B, blues, classic rock and swing since they were founded in 1996. Founder and bandleader Rob Babson (vocals, guitar, writer/arranger) has been a dedicated musician since middle school, playing professionally since 1988. Rob excels at what he loves: swing, rhythm and blues, blues and classic rock, but he never rules out anything if it’s good. Rob is joined by Brian Hodgman on drums, Justin Maxwell on bass and vocals, and Andy Chipman on keyboards. Click here to listen to clips from their new demo.
This concert is funded in part by the Nichols Fund of Portland. The appearance of Low Lily is funded in part by the New England States Touring program (NEST) of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies, as well.
