Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

December 21, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

In his classic tale of a search for meaning in the yuletide season, Charles Dickens prefaced A Christmas Carol by naming his endeavor to raise the “Ghost of an Idea.” That idea of exuberant human kindness amidst human suffering has been pleasantly haunting our holidays for 178 years and still has the power to move us beyond our inner Scrooge. Adapted into countless productions, we bring you the original Dickens tale, read in its earliest form by some of Freeport’s great storytellers. Have you misplaced your Christmas Spirit? Are you longing for the Past, or dreading what’s Yet to Come? Join us for this community reading and settle in for an old-fashioned ghost story. It could be the beginning of your best Christmas Present.

This event is FREE. Monetary donations will be collected for the Freeport Community Services BackPack Program, which provides nutritious food to kids struggling with the effects of chronic hunger to take home each weekend during the school year. We hope you might give generously to this community effort of neighbors helping neighbors.
