Freeport Cultural Plan – Launch Meeting
November 18, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The Freeport Town Council and Freeport Arts and Cultural Alliance (FACA) are embarking on a new initiative, and we need your input. Freeport has had several successful meetings to assess interest in arts and cultural activities, which led to the creation of the Freeport Arts and Cultural Alliance, as well as the Virtual ARTS Kiosk (which includes this website!). As a result of these initial meetings, it is clear that the next step is the development of a comprehensive Freeport Cultural Plan to utilize resources strategically and thoughtfully.
When completed, the Cultural Plan will:
- Identify community priorities;
- Provide strategies to enhance and develop arts and cultural opportunities for all residents; and
- Recommend policies to expand the creative economy of Greater Freeport.
Please join us at the launch meeting for the Freeport Cultural Plan on November 18, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at the Freeport Community Center, where we will begin this important work together.
We have contracted with Reinholt Consulting LLC to help us in this process. They have successfully developed cultural plans for Lewiston /Auburn (Cultural Plan LA) and Waterville (Waterville Creates), and have worked closely with the Maine Arts Commission. Their efforts, similar to efforts taking place across the U.S., have generated very positive benefits for communities.
We are committed to creating a community-designed plan that will enhance the quality of life for residents as well as the creative economy here in Freeport. Input from engaged citizens at the very beginning of this process is critical to the success of this effort.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON NOVEMBER 18th AT 6:30 P.M. AT THE FREEPORT COMMUNITY CENTER!
