Views on Ukraine from Pentagon & State Department Experts
July 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
On July 22nd at 7 PM, retired Navy Admiral Gregory Johnson and retired U.S. State Department diplomat Susan Thornton will speak about the evolving situation in Ukraine at Meetinghouse Arts in Freeport. Their conversation will be moderated by Harold Pachios, a founding member of the law firm Preti Flaherty.
Admiral Johnson is the former Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces (NATO) in Southern Europe, and Commander of U.S. Naval Forces in Europe and Africa. Earlier this year, he warned that nuclear proliferation is on the horizon. Johnson grew up in Westmanland, Maine, and is a graduate of Caribou High School and the University of Maine.
Susan Thornton has three decades of experience with the U.S. State Department in Eurasia and East Asia. She recently stated that America appears to be headed to a new Cold War division of the world with undefined spheres. Thornton previously has worked at the Foreign Policy Institute, where she studied Soviet politics and contemporary Russia.
The lecture is being presented by Free(port) Speech, a non-profit organization founded to support the transformation and growth of Freeport, Maine, into a center for arts and culture by presenting provocative and inspirational speakers.
The ticket price is $25. Tickets are available HERE.
