Hogwarts House Party

Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, and Slytherins: Celebrate all things Harry Potter with a Hogwarts House Party! Come to Freeport Community Library on Harry Potter Day dressed up in your best witch and wizarding robes to show your house pride! Unsorted? Take the official quiz and then make a house bracelet at Diagon Alley. Other magical activities include quidditch, wand-making, a photo-op with Dobby, searching for a niffler’s dropped coins, and refreshments in the Great Hall under floating candlelight. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

The Hogwarts House Party continues with a special screening of the 2016 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Come to Freeport Community Library on Harry Potter Day dressed up in your best witch and wizarding robes to show your house pride! Crafts and merriment are scheduled for 1:00-4:00PM. This program is intended for Hogwarts and other wizarding schools’ alums, Muggles, and No-Majs of all ages. Free and open to the public.

Starlight Stories

June 25 @ 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm

A quieter version of the library's regular toddler story time. Wear your PJs, pack your favorite stuffie, and join us for bedtime stories at the library! Recommended for ages 0-6. Adult supervision required.    

Night Tree Event

A holiday tradition for children, the Night Tree event at Wolfe's Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment is inspired by Eve Bunting’s book Night Tree. Her story is about a family that feeds the forest animals by making decorations for a special tree. Each hour during the day, we read her story together, and then decorate pinecones with birdseed and string popcorn, dried fruit and cranberries.
