This new exhibit showcases paintings and photographs related to historic Freeport, both modern and older works that depict people, places, or things that evoke historic meaning. Paintings or photographs of Casco Castle, ships built here, the Desert of Maine, historic buildings or businesses (usually older than a century), and people who lived and worked in town are possible subjects. During the month of March, Freeport Community Library will be hosting local artist Polly Smith. Her exhibit is called “Around Freeport” as Smith lives and paints in Freeport and pulls most of her inspiration from these local landscapes. She manipulates layers of watercolors to get rich and interesting colors. Armchair Travel: Berlin

Everyone's favorite program is back! Travel vicariously through local residents' informal travelogues of distant lands and delicious food. For this installment of our Armchair Travel, decorated photographer Jack Montgomery will take us with him to Berlin. Montgomery is lauded for his painterly portraits and monochromatic photographs, and has done much good in his work for the Jewish and transgender communities. We can't wait to see all of his gorgeous photos! Seating is limited, so come early for a good spot.

Enduring Heights, The High Peaks of Maine
