The Renovators first met in a Portland nightclub on Fore Street named Cadillac Jacks. The players came from various and far corners of the state. The little rhythm trio was dubbed "The Hoodoo Kings" admiring a Tabby Thomas tune entitled "Hoodoo Party" from the prolific Louisiana Excello Record label. Although they all played with area bands and were involved in their own projects, this little trio had a toe hold on Thursday nights to help round out a week's pay…

The current exhibit at Freeport Historical Society -- "The Mast Landing: Industry, Commerce, and Its People, 1720s-1920" -- focuses on Mast Landing, the area where large pine logs destined to become ship masts were hauled and loaded into the Harraseeket River during the 18th century.
