Virtual Kiosk Features showcase local artists.
Each month we post a new batch of images to The Big Easel to showcase work by local artists. This is one of many chances to show off your work in the virtual world. A jury of local artists reviews all submissions and will select up to 12 images for each month’s exhibit. Their mission is to create an attractive display that shows off a range of styles and genres.
To showcase literary arts, we have created the Writers’ Corner and the “Why arts & culture matter to me” essay page.

The Fine Print
Eligibility: Amateur and professional artists and cultural groups located in Freeport or Pownal are eligible for inclusion in the Features section of the Virtual Kiosk. Images or photographs of finished works of art that are significantly visual — such as paintings, sculpture, dance and theatrical performance, film, and photography — will be considered for The Big Easel. All literary forms — such as poems, fiction, memoir, plays, essays and editorials — will be considered for the Writers’ Corner.
Specifications: Images submitted for The Big Easel must be high-res jpegs. Literary work must be in .txt or .doc format. We will make reasonable efforts to maintain layout for poems. Literary works are limited to what would fit in approximately two letter-sized printed pages. For longer works such as novels and full-length plays, we will accept excerpts only.
Copyright / Permission: Work submitted for inclusion in Features pages must be original and must be the property of the person submitting them. By submitting an image or literary work for The Big Easel, Writers’ Corner and other Features you are granting FACA permission to use the work on the Virtual Kiosk, including the website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media.
Selection Criteria: The Big Easel jury and Features editor will curate an attractive exhibit that shows as wide a range of styles and genres as possible from the eligible work we receive. Work by both professional and amateur artists will be considered.
Obscene/Offensive Material: The Virtual Kiosk will be viewed by community members of all ages and backgrounds. Images and literary work that are likely to be greatly offensive or could be deemed obscene or hate-speech will be excluded from the Virtual Kiosk (including Features). Content that is prohibited by law or the usage policies of our webhost and social media platforms will also be excluded.
