When times are tough, we can draw strength and inspiration from art, books, movies, music, history and heritage. We here at ACAF are looking for ways to help everyone continue to enjoy arts and cultural experiences while practicing social distancing or self-quarantining.
- This is a great time to catch up on your reading. Freeport Community Library is closed for now, but Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop is offering curbside pickup. Call them at 207-869-9000 to order the book and pay by credit card. If they have it in the store, you can pick it up curbside that day. If the book isn’t in the store but is available in their warehouse, they will ship it directly to you from the warehouse. The always-helpful staff at Sherman’s is at the ready to puzzle out a book title if you aren’t sure you have it right or to make recommendations.
- Check out the virtual galleries on the websites of local artists in our Visual Arts directory.
- Executive Director Janelle LoSciuto is working with local visual artists on “Social Media Takeovers,” where artists post to ACAF’s social media throughout a day of creating their art. She is also reaching out to local musicians to set up a “Concert from your Couch” series. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to access these opportunities as they are posted. Artists and musicians email Janelle if you’d like to participate in either offering!
We’ll be adding to this list in the coming weeks. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and join our email list for more ideas and resources.
